Sounds like you have a loose wire. I would removed the whole system and re attach it. Also the pink wire of our controller should be hooked up to an ignation on. So it should not have power when the car is not running.

When the green wire is loose you can have phantom readings on the controller as it searches for an input. This is similar to how a multi meter when on voltage scale will bounce around. I would ditch the solder and do bare wire connections and wrap with tap. Solder is brital and break loose under heat cycling.
