The power diffenence is almost a mute point. I have done dyno's with vehicles that were running 50/50 denatured on and they ran out and switched to methanol cause that's what the shop had in stock and the horse power was really no different. Methanol has as it has a higher oxygen ratio, higher cooling power, and about the same octane.

It's really all about availibility and price for most people. If your in the boonies Methanol can be hard to come by at a decent price.
