Now that I am at home I can see the photo, That is one of our very first kits, Almost 3 year old, That braided line looks like a extra. I would avoid using it with methanol because it could be steel at the ends not brass and will corrode rather quickly. I would replace with our current hose and just get the pump fitting and nozzle fitting.

That controller is not switchable. I would run a relay inline with that old controller for sure because it is not as beefed up as the new unit.
