Not to flame, but 47 isn't that impressive for beating on it, especially with a 6-speed. 5-speed TDI's are getting low 40's beating on them, and 50-60's when driving nicely. Wish they sold the diesel in Japan. I would be all over it. there are no new diesels lately that aren't in SUVs and get 20-30 mpg.
