Oh yeah, certainly the remap has taken it's toll on the economy. Also the aerodynamics of the smart are brutal. Given that, I still think that 47 is pretty good for speeds over 90 mph.

There are two camps with these cars - the guys that chase the economy numbers, and the guys like me that want to make them go faster and corner well. One of the MPG chasers gets 100 MPG with his ForTwo! I'm more interested in having fun.

No worries about the criticism - you can't drive one of these very different cars without hearing everything under the sun. Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't had to trot out the impressive crash test footage for the car. Usually I get stuff along the lines of "I wouldn't want to be hit by a truck in that". (it actually does incredibly well)
