Hello, My name is Denis Kefallinos and I have an 86 GN. I've been futzing around with alcohol injection since at least 1999 and at present the car has a homebuilt system using a variety of components. Nozzles are aquamist, pump is a carrolls supercharging water-alcohol pump that has proven to be very reliable. Controls are very simple - hobbs switch activated at 10 psi. As you can imagine, turning on all nozzles at once creates a bit of a tuning problem so its time to address this. I used to have a multistage setup with two hobbs switches but it was just too complicated both from a plumbing and wiring perspective. I'd like to apply your 3-bar Progressive Controller to my setup. I see it has a max output of 10A which I think is good (I'm seeing about 12-13 to the pump now and I think my pressures are a bit high). All the wiring is there, I think I just need to rip out my hobbs switches and relays and replace with your setup. Anything else I should consider? |

For one you might want to replace the nozzles, The AM nozzles are not large enough for the GN. If your under 25psi no real need to run anything more than a single 12GPH or 14GPH nozzle. Our pump with the nozzles sizes you use will never see 10 amps, the large the nozzle the less the pressure the less amps drawn. But if you have a 150psi shurflo model then you should not need to change out the pump. Progressive makes for a smooth ramp up on your vehicle plus you can start your water injection much lower like 5psi without bogging the motor. You will need to get a 3 bar map sensor to go along with it. The controller only has 5 wires to hook up total. Only 2 go to the engine bay. So it would clean up your set up. |

Thanks for the reply. The nozzles work - I know they are small...thats why I have SIX! My uppipe looks a bit like HellRaiser.. ![]() But getting down to one nozzle or two would also look cleaner and be safer, so that is a possibility too, thank you. My boost is about 25-30psi depending on conditions - so is that two nozzles? The pump will stay, and I've got my old shurflo in a box as well. Thanks for the reply. The progressive will probably be the next purchase. I see your sig says you are deploying in August. Best of luck over there and thanks for your service. Quote:
