Default Iats What should they be at WOT

My 07 Trailblazer ss has a magnuson MP112H supercharger on it.

It is a stock motor ,LS2 .

My buddy has the same setup I have with the supercharger , efans, running about 6-7 lbs of boost., headers etc.

He installed one of your meth kits and he is mixing his own mixture , 50% Methanol and 50% distilled water and putting it in his wiper fluid resevoir.

He has a dashawk which he monitors his iats , ect, aat's, etc. The mechanic told him that he should be seeing his iat's dropping drastically if he is getting enough meth into the CAI. His nozzle is about 3-4 inches away fro0m his throttlebody .

I am wanting to add this setup to my TBSS also but want to make sure it is working properly on his first.

It is about 70 degrees here at this time of year. If his iats are at 150 degrees after sitting idling in the staging lanes and he pulls up to the tree at the starting line and nails it to go down the 1.4 mile track , should he be seeing his iat's dropping once the meth is injecting ? If it should be dropping , how much should he be seeing , I have been told by a few other guy's that he should be seeing it drop down to about 80 to 90 degrees after a couple of seconds at WOT if he has installed the correct nozzle .

Would love to hear your suggestions

Thanks in advance !

With the New MAF sensors the IAT sensor is apart of that. So it will never see the temp drop from the methanol because you cannot spray through a MAF sensor. Older GM vehicles you could just relocate the IAT sensor to after the Alcohol injector then it could see the change in temps.

You can however still relocate the IAT with the following modification. You will have to extend the harness to get it after the alcohol injection nozzle for it to work. You can skip the step of modifiying the stock IAT sensor sence the Alcohol injection will do the temp drop for you.

IAT's should be around the ambient air temp or lower with the alcohol injection, I could sometimes see 70F on a 100 degree day.

I am not sure that this iat relocation will work with the LS2 we have in the Trailblazer SS.

I am looking into this further , Thanks .

One other question. If he is not seeing the iat's dropping on his dashawk scan tool, how would he know if he is running the correct amount of meth and water mix ? He did go up one size larger nozzle than you had recommended initially when he saw the timing being pulled.

I looked at my buddies data logs at 0-120 mph @WOT and I know he put in 24.9 degrees of timing and the SS was running great. The temps outside have gone up from 65 to 70 degrees to 80 to 90 degrees and now we are only seeing 20 degrees of timing at WOT. I guess with the iats going up since the outside air temps are rising it will automatically start to pull timing ,correct...that is why we are only seeing 20 or 21 degrees at WOT.

That is correct, The IAT plays a vital role in controlling that, You have to spoof it, or put it after the nozzle, The computer only knows what imputs it gets.

The location of the IAT sensor is actually placed in the intake manifold right over the #8 intake port (rear passenger side) with the MagnaCharger kit. There was alot of testing done on performance trucks and it didnt make any more power doing this mod to the IAT sensor. It reacted a little faster (miliseconds) but didnt make any real performance increase for the time involved in performing the mod. The IAT tables in the tune can be change real easy and softened but you run the risk of picking up knock. The location and the tune are set up so it is safe and we dont pop a bunch of motors.

This is the email I recieved back from my buddy that specializes in the magnacharger and installs alot of these on Trailblazer ss's. he is not real familiar with the Meth injection , but he did say that as long as you tune it properly it is good as gold.
