Hi dvldoc, I appreciate your reply and would like to respond to some of the facts you state. Most importantly is how turbo inlet size matters? I've just measured my turbo inlet and it's even smaller - 1.5inches. Is that a problem? And how close can the nozzle be placed as I do have a few inches of straight hose before the turbo, otherwise I'd have to install the nozzle before a 90-degree bend or even further back, before several sharp bends - turbulence can revert vapour back into a liquid which is why I'm concerned. In your pics, is that compressor wear deemed acceptable because mine looks immaculate compared to those, it's covered 166K miles?

Those pics are normal turbo wear, No water injection at all. Leading edge wear is very common. If you look on the aquamist forum you'll see the turbo they claim has pre-turbo injection looks no different that's because no before and after shots were ever done. Good good that's a small turbo, I would try to get it within 2 inches of the turbo for a outlet that small. When your moving even 400 cubic feet a minute of air that is more than enough to suck that all through. The thing about the pre-turbo due to the turbos heat most is sent almost strait to vapor form when it enters the housing. And the intake manifold is normally not as cold to the touch as the nozzle mounted in the intake. With a unit that small pre-turbo is going to make that perform like a much larger turbo, It's like getting a free upgrade without the install pains. All those post you see on the aquamist forum are all theory only 1 single person on that 17, or 18 page thread even installed a system on there vehicle, that's pretty bad tech to go off of. What works in theory is often different in real life when it comes to cars. Aiming directly at the nut is the ideal situation but when you think about it that only really works well if you were spraying in to a environment with no airflow that is not in a seal tube. We have been doing these for 4cly Turbo diesels for about a year now without a hitch and no customer complaints of turbo wear. Just better throttle response, decreased spool time and lower EGT's. If this stuff is a worry to you then put the nozzle at your intake. You will still see good gains. |

Hopefully I can mount the nozzle within two inches, maybe closer if that's ok? I certainly do want the benefit of pre-turbo injection for the reasons given above though not to the point that it makes the intercooler unnecessary or even undesirable as the car will be my daily driver and WI will not always be in use.
