Re: Dpf and wi

depends on how the ecu checks it and what it does with it. a bit of trail and error maybe required. i know with some it checks by noting the drop in speed (or the increases in fuel to maintain the speed) when the EGR is on. some log and error but they don't go into safe mode or light any warning lights.

hope that helps

Re: Dpf and wi

I have an electrically actuated EGR valve, so I just unpluged it. There is an ECU light on the dash but I don't care, so that was quick and easy.

that can cause ECU to go into limp mode on some vechiles.
also there is a very high risk that the egr valve was open when you disconnected it and now it will stay open. thats why blocking the egr tube is a much preferred optoin.

heres a quick graph showing maf / acc position / boost / egr %
dont like the way the egr only ever drops to 4%?. looking at the profile of the egr graph it seems that it doesnt open and close quick enough, that is when i floor the throtle after lifting off the egr is still opening from before and doesnt close down quick enough.
there doesnt seem to be a significant drop in maf at times when it is open so not sure what quantities of egr gas were talking about.
anyway i am also going to make a blank gasket to block egr before valve and give it a try for a tank of fuel.as i do short trips to work under 20 miles each way i dont want it to take the whole trip to warm up and mpg to drop.

For egr removal you can ask your tuners to switch it off inside the ecu so it never opens or set the conditions for the egr to open so unrealistic they will never be met.

The EGR valve on mine is held closed unless the solenoid opens it so it is definatly closed. I did fit a blanking plate in the past but it got lost when the engine was changed and mine runs fine like this.

how is the EGR % mesured? is that just the valve setting not actual gas flow?
if its just valve setting you have to add in how much backpressure there would be to guage how much egr is actually going in.

whats of interest is actually that the MAP is still high while MAF is going down. that could well indicate high EGR flow, got boost but dropped in air flow.

Re: Dpf and wi

The ECU on my car registers EGR flow via the drop in mass air flow through the intake. The solenoid has a duty cycle dependant on rpm and load.

Re: Dpf and wi

just to let you know i blanked egr valve and drove around 20 miles varying speeds no problems but also no big difference to normal with egr operating.on return trip eml light popped up about half way back just cruising?.will take gasket out tommorow and drill small hole and increase hole size gradually over time until eml will stay off.
oh p.s. car didn't go into limp with eml light on performance stayed normal.
