G'day all. Just stumbled across your site. I have a 2001 Nissan Patrol 4.2ltr turbo diesel wagon. I was just wondering what kit i'd need/pricing/postage to Australia/etc/etc? Have you sold a kit to anyone with a Patrol that you know of? My car, not that i do it often, revs to 4500rpm easily (never taken it further, basically never take it there at all) and currently has 10psi of boost. I'm planning on upgradeing the turbo in the (hopefully) near future and running approx 15-18psi (it'd be nice to run 30, 40,50+ like you guys do in your Cummins/Duramax/Powerstrokes but noone over here does that yet). The EGT's are currently low (around 380deg celcius under full load, 550 is a safe max for the patrol) cause its setup very "softly" due to no intercooling. That and i like my pistons whole. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Ash

I am very familar with the Patrol because i visit the Philippines often, You can go either with the progressive or boost activated kit for that unit and you will pick up about 40% more hp over stock with a 20% mixture. You can easily increase your boost up to 12 to 14psi as well. A M5 nozzle will probably be your best choice at below 14psi anymore than that you'll probably want to go with the M7. The spacegear vans see almost 40% more HP with there 2.8 liter TD and a M3 nozzle so you will get similar results. The Ford everest also has around the same results as you will see with your vehicle. Shipping to down under runs about $30 US. You can add up everything in your cart and it will give you the shipping price.

G'day mate, thanks for the quick reply. 40% extra sounds most appealing. Do i need to screw the fuel pump up more to get that? I'm still not 100% on how these things work. I realise they reduce temps and that. I'll work out what its gonna cost me. And where/if i can get methanol around here, that'll be my next issue. I assume when you say 20% mixture you mean 20% methanol/80% water? Sorry for all the questions, but you gotta know these things :D

yes 20% methanol 80% water, The small displacement TD respond better with about 20% to 30% methanol, the intercoolers on those units are pretty worthless. Get yourself a simple boost controller and a accurate boost gauge you will easily be able to run 3 more psi of boost. No you will not need to mess with your fuel pump, methanol is fuel so your adding it to the system. This is from the Delica club member you can see how it woke up that little TD motor G'day, Here is my test report on the water/methanol system. INITIAL COMMENTS Overall the system is very good, it it easy to install [there should be a 'how to' in the downloads section very soon] and returns good power. Initially you notice the power comes on much sooner [I added a boost controller as well] and faster as well as increasing the power. DYNO TEST [done with little boost 11psi and 6-7psi injection] In the Dyno test it showed the following differences Speed Unmodified Modified Gain 50klms 15HP 25HP gain10HP 60klms 34HP 59HP gain 25HP 70klms 51HP 68HP gain 17HP These engines are pretty low on the HP but have a good amount of TQ, the alcohol injection really wakes them up. Sorry he did not have TQ numbers the tech could not get it to work.

Thanks for the info mate. Mine is a 4.2ltr engine, not the 2.8/3.0ltr model, but even still those gains are impressive. How much methanol/water do you use? I mean, how long does a gallon (we work in litres over here, but i'm pretty sure 1 gallon = app 4.5ltrs, so i can work that out) last roughly? Just so i can work out what size tank i need/where the hell i'm gonna mount it I found i can get methanol really easy, cheaper than i though too. They're talkin around $130AUD for a 205ltr drum, so a mate tells me. Yet to verify that, but he's into drag racing in a big way, so i guess (hope) he'd know. I think i'll try buy it in a bit smaller quantity than 205ltr hopefully. Thanks once again for all the info. Ash

Thanks for the gallons conversion mate. But can you tell me how much water/methanol i'll use roughly? I mean, will i need to refill it everyday? I realise the more i use the throttle the more i'll use. My trol uses approx 13-14ltrs/100km (dunno what that is in mpg sorry) driving "nicely" on the highway. I just wanna know what size tank to get. Cheers Ash

I would get at least a 4 liter to 6 liter tank, Usage depends on driving style and set points but you really don't need more than 30% methanol with those vehicles and i actually would not put much more than that in them due to them not having as strong as head gaskets as our TD motors here in the states.
