Hi Shaker, it is great to see you here. What a pleasant surprise. Thanks for the photos. I just purchased the progressive kit, and am trying to figure where to put everything. Are you at all worried about damage to the pump from stones and such thrown up at it? Are you fairly certain that you have full clearance under extreme suspension travel. That looks like a great place to mount the pump if so. I was going to put mine down on the inside of the fender just above the stearing gear, but of course there would be much more heat there. For those who would not know otherwise. My car is also a Mopar slant 6,also turbo charged with a Buick Grand National T-4 from and 87. I was directed to DevilsOwn, by Mr. Shaker himself. I am only running 9 lbs of boost, and struggling with detonation, mostly due to the poor combustion chamber design on these old slants. I am just hanging out here trying to get my bearings with this thing. Also, Shaker, how long does your fluid last using your windshield washer bottle? I bought a 4 quart one, and there is no place to put it up high. I can put it under the left fender way up front, but would have to engineer some kind of sight glass to see how full it was. Plus, I would then have to put the pump down even lower, maybe even on the frame. Sam Last edited by Sam Powell; 10-14-2007 at 08:28 AM. |

Sam, I'm not worried about stones and such. I have however scrubbed the pump a time or two with the tire. I'm not actually sure when I did it. I put a taller front tire on the car since mounting the pump. I try to be careful about going over the big gentle bumps that really move the suspension. Washer bottle volume: All depends how active your right foot is. I believe I have the 7gph nozzle in right now. When I went to the track a few weeks back I used about .5 to .75 of an inch of fluid on three full passes (and driving to and from). My meth starts to spray at around 8psi. I think 4 quarts would last quite a while. Just keep a bottle of windshield washer fluid in the trunk. I also wired an led into the circuit so I would know when the pump activates. My timing is at 19* total advance (with out vacuum attached). The chassis dyno showed this to be the sweet spot. I have the vac attached and is there for MPG but retards as soon as it goes into boost. I'm using 100% meth now and did a test using a thermocouple last week. The outside air temp was around 75*F. I put the thermocouple in right at the bonnet inlet. When the meth would come on under boost the temp I immediately dropped to 58*F. Also, since I've last posted I went to the chassis dyno and made 25 more rwhp to 259 and increased rwtq by 35 to 345. 10hp & 10tq was due to a change to a straight through muffler and the rest was due to timing changes. I started at 16, then 19, then 21. 16 to 19 made the best change. 19 to 21 was so small that I backed down to 19 for safety. As mentioned earlier I went to the track about 2 weeks ago. My best pass was a 13.21@102 with this stock slant 6. I'm planning on going 1 more time this year but before I go I need to make a gear change. I'm running out of motor at about the 1100-1200 foot mark with the 3.23. (motor will not go past 4500rpm) I'm working on a 2.94 and hope that increases the trap speed as well as allowing me to launch a little harder without killing the tires. |

Cool car! Tell your welder to turn the wirespeed down and step up on the voltage. Speed up your travel speed and go back to fill holes, dont try to fill them all at once! |

Thanks for the timing tips. I have only been able to run 10 degrees without water injection. I hope I have somewhere near your success. Good numbers on your ET. That is very impressive. I hope to come close to that. It should once things are worked out. Sam |
