I've installed an after-market 6PSI Turbocharger for my 2006 Scion tC. Decided to forgo the traditional intercooler and go with a water/methanol injection system instead. I've run in 106F Texas weather and my engine is still in one piece! I'm doing all the work myself -Turbo install, learning how to program my own fuel maps and how to use the Devils Own On-Line alcohol kit to it's full potential -Even learning how to tune the car myself (I've got wide-band and A/F datalogging as well as ODBII logging capabilites). It's been a very fun and rewarding project. Of all the companies that I've been working with on my turbo project Devils Own On-Line has been the fastest to respond to questions and gets A+ in customer service .Everything worked as promised -Info provided was accurate -even when I got into some technical tangents. Big applause to The folks behind Devil's Own On-Line! Here is a link to my install article http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2326730/1 This the 1-minute version w/ just the highlights Here is the pump install it's just below of the brake-fluid reservoir http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...30_13_full.jpg Here is the "front" end of the control system. Red button is manual water spray, first toggle is for manual, automatic or off (test the system with no spraying). The second toggle controls a 12V water solenoid this activates an additional nozzle to spray in tandem with the main nozzle (not installed yet). Last button activates the proportional controller, this regulates the duty cycle of the pump it starts to spray at 2PSI and continues to increase the duty cycle to full on when you reach 5PSI. The system lets you adjust both the "start" point of spray and at what PSI point you are going to be at full spray. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...30_26_full.jpg This is a shot of the 2-quart tank that's used to store the distilled water that I'm injecting into the throttle body. It's directly underneath the battery tray. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...30_20_full.jpg _________________ http://www.scionlife.com/gallery/personal/28686_14.jpg I orginally started running 100% distilled water -but the ECU was still pulling the timing at times. Then I went to 10% methanol and still saw some retard - I started to run 20% methanol a few days ago and it appears to be working better. The ecu is not pulling as much timing and I'm working on the tune to add more fuel as I'm accelerating and taking some correction off the MAF sensor so that the sensor is almost maxxed out when I'm past 5000 RPM this lets the ECU pulls a little timing on it's own. I'm very happy with the hardware works like a Timex watch. I sort of pieced my kit together... Devil's Own -Progressive 2Bar controller (New Style) Devil's Own -2 Bar MAP sensor (My car is MAF) Devil's Own -High Pressure 150 PSI Pump Switch DEvil's Own 2-Quart Tank Devil's Own Line/Quick Connect fittings and hardware Devil's Own wiring harness I'm running Sureflow 12V pump w/ M2 nozzle. The car "should" be making about 200HP at the wheel. I use 2 Quarts of "boost fluid" a week I usually top the injection tank in the weekends. ERIC-TC |
