Keep blowing fuses

Sup all. I been running my DV kit for over a year and love it. Lately i keep blowing the pump fuse. It is a 10 amp as that is what came with the kit. Thought it was the motor going out and wanted to upgrade pumps to a 150 psi anyway so i switched it out and same thing. I redid all the wires when i switched pumps and rechecked the relay and all look good. Anyone else run into this and if so what was the problem/solution. Thanks
Randy

Re: Keep blowing fuses

Hey randy whats up.

Your last pump from us was 150psi. We have never sold anything but 150 psi pumps. Just a rash of miss info on srt forums.

If you extended the wires etc you should step up the gauge to 12 gauge. You should also double check the ground. Thats the most important part. You might also try a slow burn fuse if you can find it or just step up to 15amp fuse. These pumps can draw as much as 10amps but for a 10 amp fuse it should take 20 amps for 2 secs to pop it.

Re: Keep blowing fuses

Thanks for the reply. I will step it up to a 15 amp, check the ground again and see if that works. Just wierd that it just started now after working so well for so long. And as far as the pump with the kit, it says right on the sureflow sticker under the DV sticker that it is a 100psi pump.

Re: Keep blowing fuses

15 amp fuse did the trick. Ground is in good shape and on a factory ground location so it should e good. Is there any risks of running the 15 amp? Over heat the pump, wires or anything like that? The wires are only extended a foot or two from the original lines. Thanks again.

No, those pumps will run at 20amps for short periods of time with no issues, They have a internal safety swithc if the pump ever gets to 250 degrees it will just cut off until it cools off. Have never been able to make one do it on the bench in any test with any nozzle size.

Re: Keep blowing fuses

I keep blowing fuses too. I'll step up to a 15 amp fuse and see if I can stay powered.

BTW, I have the 220PSI pump
