I'm Louis, from India.I drive a small diesel hatchback. A Suzuki Swift 1.3L common rail turbodiesel.
Here are the specs for those who are interested.
Maruti Suzuki Swift DDIS VDI (ABS) Car specification : Overdrive
The other cars in the garage are, a 1.5 L hyundai turboDiesel and a Ford Endeavour 2.5l TDci(Ford Ranger to people in most other places)
The Suzuki is my project car/Guinea pig.

Its peppy enough in its stock avatar, but I wanted more.
So, started off with a Tuning box, which gave me a claimed 20% more power, and that was brilliant. That kept me satisfied for a year. :P

Then, found a hybrid turbo, upgraded the exhaust to a turboback system and got a remap. The car is much faster now. running 21 psi boost(up from the stock levels of 15psi)

but, now I'm being limited by the EGTs in 4th and 5th gear
I googled "controlling EGTs" and came up on this site.
I will put up my n00b questions on the forum soon enough.
let me learn all I can before that.
Thanks! and cheers to this very interesting forum!

Re: New member

Hi and welcome, good to see more small engined diesels here.
What sort of EGT's are we talking about? Does it smoke?
Perhaps we should move this to the diesel section.

Re: New member

Hi, and thanks for the welcome.
I have a post turbo pyrometer. So the EGTs are an estimate at best. Around 3 inches after the turbo, in the downpipe.
I back off the accelerator when i see 1000 fahrenheit. It takes only around 10 secs in 4th gear when accelerating with pedal to the floor.
During daily drives, the temps never go beyond 700 fahrenheit. I'm not really looking for anymore power, because the stock clutch cant take anymore torque. I just want a cooler engine when i'm really giving it the beans in 4th and 5th

Re: New member

I'm sure you'll accomplish your goals with a DO kit and, hopefully gain a power increase at the same time. Be sure to keep us updated as you go. Good luck
