A Newbie wants to know....

Hi All,

I found my way here from a guy who runs w/a in a high performance Subaru powered sand rail. I'm all ears to learn the secrets of your accumulated knowledge.

I drive a n/a fuel injected Jeep Cherokee, and my wife a plain vanilla Subaru Outback, also n/a and injected. What are the advantages of water/alcohol injection for our vehicles? I have a rudimentary idea about the hi-po sand rail.

Is there a "w/a injection 101" here on the site, or can you point me to such an overview?

Thanks guys!

Re: A Newbie wants to know....

The technical forum should answer all your questions as well as the N/A section.

For the vehicles you drive don't expect a huge increase in power, Now having said that I run a kit on everthing I drive or have driven in the past 5 years. To give a comparison on My ford explorer I installed a 2gph nozzle triggered off the MAF sensor and it has made a big difference in acceleration and mpg in the climate I live in which is the blazing heat of Guam. In cooler location the difference will not be as much.

One of the biggest benefits is zero detonation, steam cleaned internals for your vehicle, Lower engine operating temps, lower emissions, and a few extra ponies never hurt anyone. Especially if you tow with your vehicle it makes a big difference. The jeep would only need around a 2gph nozzle and the Outback a 1gph nozzle for same effect.

So basically the car will perform like it was 70 degrees outside with race gas all the time. I just run 40% alcohol (-20 windshield washer fluid) in my vehicles since I am all the way over in Guam. When I get back state side I will use our own brew.
