Hey folks, I have put together a piece meal methanol injection kit, using Devils own Progressive Controller, a snows 150 psi pump I got used and a plastic fuel cell for the methanol supply. I still need to pick up the remaining small parts, which brings me to my questions. I will run the std plastic fittings and a rubber hose from the pump to the container (mounted in the trunk). The supply line will be run along the frame the entire length of the car to the intake tube. Because it is so long (at least 12 feet) and under the car I would like to run a length of -04 AN teflon lined braded stainless steel hose. I will need a fitting on the hose to attach it to the feed side of the pump and I will need the fitting to attach an injection nozzle to the intake tube. For these fittings I am having a hard time locating anything but plain brass, mostly the fittings that are common are aluminum. Will using solid brass on the pressure side of the pump be acceptable? Does anyone have knowledge of where I can get nickel plated brass fittings that would work with the Aeroquip braded SS hose? Any other suggestions for a different type of plumbing that would work better than the braded SS hose and brass connections I have mentioned? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated..... Finally I am running a supercharged (9-12 pounds of boost) 4.6 mod motor dyno'ed at 465 RWHP, what size nozzle would be a good starting point? Thankx in advance to all, for the advice and guidance I am sure to receive. regards, Mike |

yes you can use brass. the fittings that come with the DO kits have components (predominantly the nozzles, which is where the most pressure build up is since its such a small orifice as opposed to the punp outlet) so yes i would say you are fine to use brass. also not to mention that brass is relatively soft, so it will provide a better seal as well. as for your stainless line, theres no need for it unless its what you really want to do. the poly line that comes with the kits is enough to support the pressure of the pump. you wont have a problem with it, but if you MUST use stainless line go ahead, it wont be cheap tho. as for your nozzle size, you should use the nozzle size calculator they have here on the website...it works pretty well and will definitley get you very close to where you want to be. you might have to go up or down one size depending on how your tune is set up, but it will certainly point you in the right direction. |

With this hose you just have to make sure it's not chaffing anywhere. If you go to the ss house I would use brass fittings. Methanol is not compatible with Alum unless its anodized, which most is but you will always loose the anodizing at the threads when you tighten them. I perferr to use the pp hose because its easly routeable but common sense must be taken when running it.

rocket brings up a good point. unless the outershell of your stainless line is coated with rubber or poly like some are, then it is imperative to make sure it stays put. use TONS of zip ties or safety wire to keep it solid. if it moves, it will chaffe and ruin anything it comes near.
