so today i have been testing the methanol kit in my car and right when i think i got it somehting i think bad goes wrong. i own a 99 GTP and as all you know it is only a matter of time before we need to start looking for a new tranny. the reaosn why i thin mine is going is because i on my last test i got on it and to it into 2nd to about 70, let off it and let the revs, drop , but when they did they wouldnt go below 1500. now when ever i rev to 2000 or higher then let off it stays at 1500 for 5-10sec or when i break i thought maybe my cruize got stuck on but nope cuz i never use it ill look at it tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Your tranny is probley not the issue. It sounds like to me you have a vaccum leak off one of the vaccum lines that connect to the tb. Look them over real well and replace any of them that have a crack. Might also be possable that your t.b. spacer is leaking. Let me know.

Andy, That doesnt seem too unusual to me... I remember how mine doesnt idle ALL the way down right away, but I dont know about specific numbers. (im out of town right now and cant check my own car). Anyway, if your sure this is not how is used to be, I would suggest you checking out the other (not alcohol specific) GP forums to get a little wider access. I dont kow how well you are versed in the online GP community if you havent already done so, ask on Club GP ... (ClubGP Message Forum troubleshooting) I agree that this sounds related more to vacum, maff sensor, or somthing not quite connected somewhere. If youve done any recent under thte hood work go back and make sure you didnt bump somthing or forget to put somthng back. (Ive ben there myself!) Good luck! ~Dan |
