ok so ive been hearing that if you run methanol you can lower your grade of gas? my setup is a 9.9:1 3.8 supercharged with a 3.6 pully making around 6.3psi (using the L36 pcm and maxing out the MAP table that only goes to 140). just curious if this will work or not.

It's my understanding that methanol is an octane booster and in turn lets you run less timing. Correction...It's allows for more timing.

I think you ment to say lets you run more timing. By raising the octane level it is the same as running race gas. You are able to run more timing if you have the means to adjust it. And if not you will just see your full timing because you will not have any Knock. If you have a IAT sensor and either spoof it with a 4.7k ohm resistor or spray your methanol before the sensor you will have better results because the computer will see the temperature drop as well. On my GTP I ran 26 degrees timing at WOT with a 20/80 mix and a M10 nozzle, Off the alcohol i could only run 15 degrees with the 2.8 pulley. I had no cam and no intercooler and was still running 13.00's. Every degree of timing is around 3 wheel hp gained. So it makes a noticble difference. |

yeah i have a happy knob hooked up. so if i were to run -20 washer fluid you think that would be sufficent?

You need to scan to check your knock count and you increase it 1 degree at a time. You should be able to get 4 to 5 degrees more out of it with 40% methanol. | |
