Anyone using something OTHER than push connects? Like NPT or AN?

My push connects leak like crazy. Hate those things. Anyone using a more reliable connection like NPT or AN for their pressurized lines? My Y connector leaks, so does the check valve and the nozzle holders. Tried new lines & fresh cuts, no luck. Would really like something threaded like NOS lines or fuel lines. I mean if its leaking fluid, its gotta be leaking air & boost too...

Sound like they are not fully seated, Try this trick, WD40 the ends and make sure you push them in until you feel a click.

Re: Anyone using something OTHER than push connects? Like NPT or AN?

Well I tried fresh cuts on the lines, then fresh pieces all together and it still does it. Then I even tried covering the 2 outputs of the Y piece with epoxy and even that leaked. The epoxy developed a crack and its spraying out of that like mad... I pushed the lines in as far as I could, I heard the click but not as good of a click as I got out of the check valve. Will that trick really do it? What exactly would the WD40 do for it? I mean I just really don't trust these types of connectors, they are way too cheesy. I mean, you would never use push connects on a fuel rail line or a nitrous system. So why use them on alcohol? The NPT or AN setup would get expensive, so I was also wondering if a barbed adapter can be fitted with more of a rubber/silicone hose and a clamp on the end of it, like a fuel line. I know brass should not be used, but what about another barbed option? Like the piece below-

To each his own, 99% of the time there are zero issues, You might want to just call the shop and see about getting a exchange for our all metal units

It sounds like you might have some heat warp were the fitting is mounted.

They are not that close to the engine, they are over by the headlight in the front corner.. I will try anything that will work. I just don't want to buy something else that still is problematic.

Are the metal ones a firmer connection? The ends look like they have ridges to turn & tighten them down. Do they or is that stil a push to unlock? And does a T present a flow issue over a Y?

they are still push fitting by look of them, your not using 6mm pipe in 1/4 inch fitting?its a close fit but wouldnt seal properly.we use these push in fittings(but metric) in work all over the place and only ever had leakages or pipes blow out were where excess temps had hardened pipe or people have removed/refitted a few times without recutting to a fresh piece of pipe.
once pushed into fitting fully, pull back on pipe this helps the fitting bite into pipe and the o ring seals it.unless a previous attempt has nicked or split the o ring inside.

I am using the tubing that came with the kit. The tubes have hardened a little, but they are not brittle or anything..

Re: Anyone using something OTHER than push connects? Like NPT or AN?

I can't speak for DO's pipe as I have another brand but it also uses the push type fittings and any lateral stress will allow seepage and I haven't discovered why. What I have noticed is that the pipe won't sometimes release when it should and this appears to be due to a digging in of something within the fitting, causing small gouges, i.e. reducing it's wall thickness at that point. Obviously cutting this damaged bit off provides a better fit but there will come a point when the pipe will be too short.

In my case, I've got a leak at the bottle take-off as the pipe has to do a U-turn up into the wing. Until I can sort this (how?) I'm stuck to experimenting with water only.

As I said, this is not DO's pipe but a competitors so anyone with advice and pointers here will be most welcome.

Re: Anyone using something OTHER than push connects? Like NPT or AN?

those cut in gouges are the fitting doing its job thats what stops your hose shooting out under pressure, inside the fitting teeth grip into the hose thats why i always push pipes in then pull back to make sure teeth have grabbed, when the releasing ring is pushed in it pushes the teeth off the pipe alowing it to pull out.a clean square cut helps a sharp stanly knife works dont use anything that will squash pipe out of shape i.e. scissors pliers etc.on metric pipes you can get a brass inner support that slips into internal end of hose not sure if you can get them in imperial or materials other than brass.
