Faulty Pump

I bought the devils own kit last year, and its been working great ever since. I recently installed a second nozzle with a check valve in the intake pipe.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the two nozzles or second check valve, but I started getting a lot of knock recently and I quickly realized that I was barely getting any meth into the intake.

So I proceeded to pull apart the system and see how well it was spraying with the dual nozzles. I noticed the pump pulsating, and meth was spraying very low and inconsistently from only one nozzle as if there was not enough pressure , and the other nozzle, nothing at all.
Seems as if the pump is not making enough pressure to even crack open the second check valve.

I proceeded to hook up just one nozzle with the one check valve that wasn't flowing. It did not even spray at all with the pump on. I pulled apart the check valve thinking it may be clogged or faulty, but its design is very simple and with enough pressure it should open. I have pretty much ruled that the pump is faulty and not building enough pressure, as even with the one nozzle and check valve that was working, it was still not spraying with pressure, and kind of dripping.

I know I should only run one check valve before the Y union, but from the tests that I did I have concluded that the pump is faulty.

Is there any warranty on these pumps, as I am not quite happy that it only lasted me about 1 year ?

Re: Faulty Pump

They have a one year warranty, sounds like you might need a new seal. I run a little lime away through my pump to about once every 6 months because sometimes you get gunk inside the passage ways. We rarely have a pump that is dead. Just find your purchase order and you can send it in for a free replacement.

And no you should not run 2 check valves at all with the pump.

Re: Faulty Pump

Thanks for the reply I did not buy the kit directly from you, but through a vendor here in Canada (RTM Racing). Should I be dealing through him, as the only invoice I have is from RTM Racing ?

Wow! Can you provide a little more info? How much is "a little" and how do you do it? That stuff seems pretty caustic. Do you dilute it with water?

thx

Limeaway is 30% Phosphoric Acid the seals on the pump can handle 80% so you don't need to dilute it, Just make sure you flush the system out.

And of course you don't have the nozzle holder connected to the hose you just let it run through the pump and drain into a container. Let it sit for 30 minutes and flush it out. Also great for the nozzle filter as well just put it in a little cap of it and then rinse it off. Keeps it nice and clean.

Re: Faulty Pump

Thanks. Your post would be a good sticky someplace, perhaps a maintenance thread in the general forums.

Re: Faulty Pump

Actually, as a sticky in the technical forums would be good, plus any other maintenance tips.

Re: Faulty Pump

We are working on something like that already, but a bit more detailed about the pumps, and not just ours.
