You should disconnect your map so as not possibly overload it. You should also test with a voltmeter to see if your map is actually putting out the proper voltage. Sometime stock maps can be erratic or damaged due to heat and clogged pressure ports.

Since you have the kind of vehicle you have, I would let the controller power the sensor if you do not have it set up that way already. That why you can hook up a momentary switch (push button) And you should be able to run the pump on full (do not do with the engine off or at idle)

Also when doing set up on non stock vehicles with different wire harnesses it's a good ideal to add a relay to the controllers red wire just so you know your getting full power. This is a issue people run into from time to time because the remote wire is not giving enough power to the controller. It will only output what its imputed.
