I have a digital progressive kit on a swapped '95 Impreza. Subarus don't come with MAP sensors, so I'm using the GM 3 bar MAP sensor. I primed the pump by taking +12v and applying it directly to the pump (I didn't apply +12v to the line with the 15A fuse). The pump turned on and sprayed water from the tank. Then I connected the pump to the check valve to the nozzle. I set the digital controller to start spraying at 2 psi. I got it up to 11 psi on my test run but the green pump LED never came on. I have a red power LED. I'm thinking either the MAP sensor isn't working or the pump didn't prime correctly. How can I troubleshoot this? Thanks! Last edited by oldhat; 02-27-2007 at 02:05 AM. |

On, key on the controller should blink 3 times. If it blinks 2 times then it needs to be changed to 3 bar mode. Our very first controllers did not blink. They can't be switched back and fowarth between 2 bar mode and 3 bar mode. They look pretty differnt, than whats on the right on the forums home page. Its been about 2 years since we had this one. Now if a newer controller and has this problem. I would double check the wires really good. Especially the ground these really have to have a good ground. Then next make sure its got a good connection at the map sensor. If this does not work, Might need to have us look at it. Pm for warranty repair issues. |

I tried disconnecting the plug going to the MAP sensor. When the plug with the three wires to the MAP is disconnected and the key goes to ON, I get three blinks on the controller, then a steady yellow blink. When I plug the three wires into the MAP sensor again, it goes back to the original problem, just a steady on red LED.

Something is wrong with the wiring of the map sensor. Pin c should be grey and is the 5v input wire You should have this hooked up to the grey 5v wire of the controller. Bin B is green and is the 0-5v output wire. it should be hooked up to the green of our controller. Pin A is black and is a ground wire for the unit. Make sure it has a very good ground. Let me know if its hooked up right. |

The wiring on my MAP sensor was backwards! Pin C was black, Pin A was gray. That fixed the problem, when I turn on the car, the controller flashes yellow three times. Thanks! HOWEVER, now I have two new problems. I tried testing the car around my neighborhood. My car hits about 12 psi at full boost normally. I filled the tank up with 50/50 denatured alcohol and distilled water. I set the controller to start spraying at 2 psi and max at 10 psi. When I got on boost, the green LED didn't light up when the pump started spraying (or was it spraying?). Then I hit full boost for a second or two. The yellow LED lit up indicating full spray for a moment, then the controller went into fault mode. I pulled over and turned the car off and on. The controller came up and flashed three times like normal and stayed out of fault mode. This time I bumped it up a bit and started spraying at about 5 psi and max at about 12 psi. This was a little better, I could get the controller to flash the yellow LED a few times for full spray around my neighborhood, even though the middle green LED still wasn't working. I tried going on the freeway. I got to full spray for a few seconds, then it went into fault mode again. Same thing. Any ideas? Thanks for you help! Last edited by oldhat; 02-27-2007 at 01:50 AM. |

Hopefully you did not fry the map sensor, but i don't think you did. I don't think your pump is comming on. Either you popped the fuse or you still have a bad connection somewhere. What did you use for a power source for the controller? It needs to be able to handle the extra load of 10amps on it. One quick test to see if you have everything hooked up correctly is to undo the hose from the nozzle place it in a bottle. Tap the grey wire on the controller to the green wire and see if you get all the lights. This test makes the controller see 5v and the pump should come on full if everything is hooked up correctly. |

I made a Radio Shack board with a relay coming directly from the battery for +12v. It's also supplying power for my three gauges (boost, EGT, oil pressure).
