Hey guys, I purchased two Devilsown progressive kits last year, both have been installed last year and worked great previously. Between me and my friend both our cars that had the alcohol last year are still down for a couple months we decided to put the kits in our winter beaters... each kit has an issue, both different, first the simple one: Kit has been installed and worked great for a couple days in my buddies Shadow, but the PUMP light stopped coming on, although if he still got into it the FULL light would still come on, I'm assuming this is a problem with the LED? Sometimes (but not often) the pump light will still work. As far as I know the kit is working fine minus the PUMP light. Something I can fix or a problem with the controller? Ok, now on to the doozy of a problem. I switched my kit into my Sundance last night and had it 95% wrapped up. All connections done, pump was pre-primed. When I turned the key on the pump started pumping almost immediately (key on, engine off!!). Turned it off asap and started doing some checks but nothing obviously wrong. I decided there may be a signal from the MAP causing it to come on early, I snipped the wire to the MAP and tried again. With the key on (engine off, I haven't even started it since installing kit) the pump didn't immediately came on, but I found if I wiggled the controller sometimes the pump would cut in and out!! I have the MAP wire sitting in front of me, its not shorted at all. What else would trigger the pump to come on like that? If I re-joined the MAP wires (with the alcohol hose into a bucket, so I can let the pump run for an extended time) the pump would come on, but as I pulled the wires apart the pump would run for a second or two then shut off. (Normal?). Also, with the MAP wires back together, and the MAP sensor unplugged the pump is STILL coming on. I have the cover off the controller so I can check the wires directly there with my testlight (power+ground MAC light). I have a semi-dim green light on my MAP line and the pump is running. The controller should not trigger unless there is a certain voltage at that wire, correct? (Based on what the dials are set at). I hope I didn't forget anything, and I hope I didn't confuse anyone too much. I'm almost confusing myself here. Thanks for any help, going to disable the unit so I can still drive the car

Well, I tried something. And it changed, but a major problem remains. As opposed to running the controller ground to a chassis spot under the dash, I ran a wire direct to the battery. Turned the key on, and well... the pump still turned on but just for a moment. I let it sit for a few minutes, wiggled the controller... now everything seems ok. Started the car up and let it warm up. A-ok so far, went for a drive and within 3-4 minutes the pump was running full out constantly while driving (ran like crap obviously) pulled over and disconnected the controller. I am at a loss now... anyone?

Read another post about having a bad MAP sensor signal can cause the controller to "hunt" for a signal, and its one of the only things that can cause the pump to run on like mine is. I re-ran the MAP wire with a bit heavier guage wire and now my pump doesn't come on randomly anymore, it just doesn't come on at all!! Even with dials set as low as possible, and running 15PSI I get no PUMP or FULL lights at all. Now what to check? Is this thing now frapped? Anyone? Please?

hello, First problem sounds like one of the leds burnt out. If its under warranty you can email me for a rma. 2nd system. I would open up the case and look at the wires, its passable some of the wires are loose. They just screw down like a car amp. How many times is the yellow led blink when it first starts up? What bar map sensor does this car have? |
