This weekend I installed the new and improved Devils Own water injection lines and fittings and wanted to share my thoughts. This is some really cool stuff! Upgraded hardware: Devils Own says that the "tubing is 1/4" Outside Diameter reinforced with Polyester Fiber. It is rated at 1,400 PSI burst pressure. This tubing meets the performance requirements of DOT FMVSS and SAE J844 and is 100% Methanol compatible. The kit also utilizes a new type of pump fittings and nozzle fittings to use with the new hose. These fittings come with the Teflon already on the threads. This new setup provides instant connections with hose that is 4 times stronger and 1/2 the size of the previous kits." I like the fact that the lines are small and their black color help keep everything low key. I personally prefer the sleeper look - a car that looks stock but can run a good number. Those of you that like to bet when you race will appreciate this. The test mule: This system was installed on a Stage 0, 2004 Dodge SRT-4. This car is a daily driver which knocks down close to 1,900 miles every month. The only prior modifications were a K&N air cleaner, "Ominiphil WGA mod", and a Needswings in-cabin manual boost controller. The boost spikes at 20 and falls to about 16 normally. The car has been baselined stock on a chassis dyno and at the drag strip and I plan on follow up with back-to-back tests at the drag strip with the Devils Own water injection turned on and off. I will be completing the installation of my PSI-FI Power Paq, AGP WGA and 3" exhaust soon. Installation: I was very happy with how easy this was to install. Literally a 10 year old child can (and did) successfully put these slip fittings together. The high pressure lines are plug and play with these new connectors. There were ZERO leaks!! None! It was really nice not to have to chase leaks. I used a 50-50% washer fluid to distilled water mix. Performance: The power increase of the Devils Own water/alcohol injection system feels similar to a small nitrous system. The biggest difference was noticed in the midrange through red line power. With the "small" pump the new lines showed a peak pressure of 135-140. Readings on the Innovate LM-1 wide-band data logger showed that there is plenty of fuel, and that the car is very rich under boost. I plan on experimenting with M3 nozzles to see if it improves low RPM power because M5 may be too big. Obviously, leaning out the air-fuel mixture will help the performance of this car significantly. Interestingly, the water injection really seemed to smooth out the acceleration. Those of you running manual boost controllers and after market waste gate actuators are probably familiar with feeling some "pulsing" during full throttle acceleration. The water injection seemed to calm the surging down on this car. Customer support: The quality and speed of Devils Own's shipping and communication was excellent. I had one minor question about line routing for the intercooler sprayer and gauge which was quickly and easily answered. Had I looked at the pictures on the web site I could have figured it out on my own. Also, I received very valuable tuning advice while I was testing the system. All in all this was a very positive customer experience and I can strongly recommend Devils Own and their innovative progressively controlled water injection system. |

Glad you like it, This new kit makes you wonder why someone would pay over $25 more for a simple boost kit from Snow or well over $100 for a less advanced progressive kit. We have more new stuff coming out that puts all the other kits to shame period. And major price increase. Wait until you see our nickel plated set-up. |
