My pump is turning off and on, In vacum and at idle??

The green light is flashing and i can hear the pump chirp??? At idle sitting in traffic and cruising in 6th gear at 80 mph its always chirping. I set it to 12 psi to start to spray and 16 psi full spray. It is installed on my 01 stage 3 s4 for reference. What could be wrong? I have went over my map sensor wire a million times to make sure there is a PERFECT connection... Now what??

It really can only be the map sensor wire that causes this error, Try checking the connection on the controller itself. Also you might need to strip down your map wire about 1" then wrap the controller wire around then solder it.

I had this problem when my controller was a 3 bar, and I was still using my 2 bar map. re-adjusted it and it was fine till I got my 3 bar in.

well...i have a factory map sensor and installed what ever controller chance sent me, I told him my application. I would love to solve this problem. I can go threw a gallon of water just idling if i wanted to. Also it doesn't matter when i set the spray to start it will still trigger the pump to come on at idle?? I made 100 percent sure the map sensor wire is perfect.

I would suggest the soldering idea then. I know mine has acted weird if either the signal or the ground wire was not nice and secure.

i will look at all my grounds again but i know for a fact my map sensor is perfect. i stripped the wire opened it up put the controller wire threw it twisted it tight and made sure i had a good connection, The i soldered it. Will a bad ground cause the pump to turn off and on all the time?

A bad ground will make all kinds of weird signals, so yes I would think it would.

Re: My pump is turning off and on, In vacum and at idle??

Here's the bottom line, it's all about voltage. If the controller does not see voltage and has to hunt for the map signal it turns the pump on and off. If your MAP sensor is sending out more voltage than it's supposed to in spikes then the pump will activate.

Some vehicles new or old cannot handle the draw of a tap on there 5v sensors and the sensor can go a bit haywire. To verify what is happening you need a voltmeter hooked to the green wire on the controller and see what it is reading. If its your map sensor then your other option is to run a stand-alone 2 bar or 3 bar map powered and read by the controller that way it does not effect your vehicle.

But you need to check with a voltmeter to see what the actual problem is.
