i was just wondering if i should tune my car before i get the alcohol in or just wait till i get it in then tune, would it be easier to have it tuned then deal with changes after install? any problems anyone else has been having with tuning issues i should know about before i start, this will be my first time tuning, i get the idea, just wanted to know if theres anything i should really look out for while doing it thanks Nick |

well, i guess it depends. what are you going to be using to tune with? are the ONLY mods you're changing is adding the alcohol inj? when i installed my alcohol, i also installed a ported '99+ TB with a '99+ MAF sensor (my car is a '98). because of the TB/MAF combo, i tuned it without the alcohol so I could get the MAF tables dialed in. once i got the MAF tables dialed in, i turned the alcohol on and did some more tuning. from what i noticed, the alcohol inj. is relatively simple to tune. it didn't really affect my O2's at all. i didn't attempt to start dropping pulley sizes the minute i put the alcohol on, though. i just turned it on, and did some scans with my current PCM config to see what differences it would make. like i said, it didn't really make a difference at all. it did make my LTFT's go richer, but that's about it. my opinion: make sure the car is tuned before the alcohol so you know everything is running how you want it. install the alcohol, do more scanning to see what all the alcohol changed on your scans. once you've verified what all the alcohol did, you can make tuning adjustments from there. then again, i have a DHP PowrTuner, so i have complete control over everything my PCM is doing. i did add 4* of timing and went from a 3.5 to a 3.3 pulley with absolutely NO KR. none, not even a blip. so, right now i'm running a 3.3 pulley with 21* of timing. O2's are steady right around ~910mv and LTFT's lock in at -6 or so. any questions on tuning, just ask. |

ill be using LS1m for scanning and afc 2.0 for tuning. my cars running pretty well right now, but im sure i can always fine tune it before the alcohol goes in, then tune again. how often do you have to retune? does weather and tempeture differences usually change the tuning alot? Thanks Nick |
