hello, ive got the stage I kit ordered (i might upgrade to the stage II, haven't decided for sure yet- maybe if the upgrade option goes on sale hint hint :D ), and i was wondering what plug gap is recommended. i saw on clubgp that you run a .035" gap, same as for a wet n2o kit, yet i see other people saying they are planning on dropping to only .050" i know the gap depends on mods, but do you have any sort of guideline(s) for what gap is best for these kits? i currently run NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .052" will i want to re-gap before running the kit, or should i just run it, scan it, see what happens and adjust from there? heh, gee... i wonder what the answer will be :P i cant remember if i made a sig on this forum yet, so ill put up my mods here: modular pulley (currently a 3.25 w/ KR), SLP headers and full 3" -> 2.5" exhaust, 4" fenderwell intake, DHP 1.0, 1.9:1 gen1 rockers w/ stock springs (i know, i know), lots of tranny work- 3.29 gears and all the goodies, AFC 2.0, LS1M scanner, MSD 8.8 super conductor wires, NGK TR6 plugs at .052", alcohol kit coming soon :D , MSP motor mounts (not installed yet), probably more that i cant think of at the moment |

You always want to run the largest gap plug you can with the spark still able to bridge the gap. If you start getting any misfires you should try taking .010 down on the plugs. And see if that smooths out the engine. I am just guessing but I would assume you will need to bring them down just a tad. Try about .045

the thing with alcohol injection is it's not a power adder, it's cooling you intake temps which allows your engine to run optimally (without KR same thing as an intercooler). So smaller gaps will probably not be neccesary but it's all trial and error any way.

WHat autolite plugs do you recommend Bilal? My mods: PEMs 3.2 and/or 3.0 depending on what i feel like 3" downpipe 3" catback alcohol inj. DHP PowrTuner FWI Ported TB MSD wires I currently have AC-Delco 41-932 (platinum, 1 heat-range colder) gapped at .055 right now. Going to be switching my plugs when I install my PEMs and dropping the gap down. Just curious what Autolites you recommend. AL103's? AL104's? Also, what's the heat-range difference between all the autolite plugs and stock? |

That guy would be me and dvldoc. Here is the low down. If you have alot of boost i.e in my case I run 15 lbs on the street then you need a smaller gap when spraying anything to keep the flame from blowing out. Also a smaller gap GREATLY reduces kr in any application. Now on the down side you loose power the smaller the gap so it is a toss up. Also, I spray N20. When ever you spray n2o I would NEVER go larger then .40 gap. In my car .35 works the best. You will need to scan your car to determine what is right for you. Another factor is your coil packs. While the factory are more the powerfull for the l67 application with higher end coild packs and icm's you can run a larger gap without the fear of blow out. Make since? Also as Dvl stated if you have plat. plugs LOOSE them. When spraying anything they foul very easy. N20 will kill them on the first spray and autolites are only a 1.25$ at napa how can you go wrong.... Cya, -Chris |
