Default staging in two nozzles

I am having a 2002 Subaru WRX built up that will NOT be running the stock computer or MAF sensor. The current plan is to have the engine run off a MegaSquirt ECU.

Since I am unable to use your sequential system, I am wondering about the feasibility of using the stage 1 universal kit and two nozzles triggered by two pressure switches at different set points.

The lower pressure switch setting could power the pump flowing to the first nozzle and the higher set switch could control the flow on and off via a 12V solenoid valve to a second injector.

Thoughts?

Why don't you just use a progressive kit and run it off the stock boost pressure switch or the MAF sensor. Progressive works much better than dual stage.

As stated, NO MAF. Also, I was not aware that a progressive system could be run off a simple pressure switch.

How does the progressive system work off one pressure switch with NO MAF?

the progressive system is can also be used as a stand alone unit all you need is a map sensor, the controller will provide the 5v, ground etc..
You could have one map sensor for your megasquirt, and another just for your alcohol system if you want

Phil, thanks for the reply. The Megasquirt was chosen because it does not require a MAF or MAP sensor to run the engine. I understand that I can add a MAP sensor to give a signal to the progressive W/A INJECTION system, but the previous reply said that the progressive system can be triggered off the "stock" pressure switch. If this response was referring to an output from the stock ECU which also assumes the MAF sensor is in place, then I don't think my post was read carefully before responding.

I'm still trying to figure out how DVLDOC stated that the progressive system can be run off the stock boost pressure switch.

Don't get me wrong, I would rather have the progressive system, and I'm not opposed to it, but thought this was not an option originally because I was not willing to spend the dough for a stock MAF sensor from subaru just to run a premium W/A injection system.

I see the MAP sensor listed here on the sit is only $65.00 That is within my budget.

Pardon my ignorance, please. The MAP sensor is just a pressure transducer converting a pressure signal to a variable voltage correct?

My last question is this: How does the MAP sensor get mounted? I am assuming it is simply fitted to the intake manifold. This is different from a MAF, where the air flow actually goes through the unit correct?

Thanks for any replies.

yes, that map sensor will work and you mount it anywhere ya want, It does not have to be mounted on the engine. All you have to do is run a vaccum hose to it from your engine..

Great! Thanks for the info. It looks like I'll be looking at a progressive kit with a MAP sensor for signal. I appreciate the help everyone.

This is because the controller does not need the stock ECM. You can leave the stock MAP or a MAF in place and the controller can not only power it it would read it as a separate and independent of any other ECU system. You can also use a 3bar GM map sensor as the stock WRX does not read that high and you would have a better tunning curve.

To connect a map sensor simply use any vacuum hose to the sensor port. The GM sensor is designed for a 1/4" ID Hose. Then connect the ground, grey wire from controller for power and the green to read the 5 volt out.

ahh, Thank you for setting me straight, DvlDoc. Looks like the MAP is the way to go for my application.
