Is there any safe/common way to test your alchy pump before putting it in? And possibly the controller, just to see if it powers on and check what bar the controller is set to? I bought a used alchy kit that apparently had a 2 bar Progressive Controller and was made by Devilsown. Guy said he only used it a couple weeks. It got here, and I find out the kit is more of a mixing of parts... It has a a Devilsown 3 bar Progressive Controller + wiring, most of Devilsown fittings + lines + nozzles it looks like to me, and a enginerunup.com alcohol pump. So to say the least, I'm not sure how to feel about this. I was told it was a pure Devilsown kit. I guess the pump won't be as big of a deal as long as the controller is good, but I was wondering if there is any way to test them... Controller looks new, pump looks like it was used for more then a couple weeks IMO. Let me know if you can help me out. I'd like to know if this stuff works before spending the time to install it all. |

Yes, if you hook it up just like you would to the car minus the pump, And go for a drive, the activation lights will come on even if the pump is not connected as long as the blue wire is not connected to the pump. You can also test it by hooking up just the ground and power wire and touch the grey wire 5v out to the green 5v in and all lights should light up. |

Ok sounds good, will test the controller tomorrow. Can you just hook up the power and ground wire of the shurflo pump to a 12V car battery and stick the inlet hose in some water to see if it will pump? Or will this not work? |

I have no pressure coming from the pump at all. It isn't even sucking any water in, but it turns on and sounds like its supposed to be pumping... This is what I did: Red wire from pump- positive on battery terminal Black wire from pump- negative on battery terminal Inlet line of pump- connected to red inlet hose - into a glass of water Outlet line of pump- just left open with only the fitting on Did I do something wrong here, or is there something wrong with the pump I received? If my controller is bummed too, I'm going to be pissed. EDIT: Just tested the controller. Hooked up the red wire to power, black to ground, got power light to light up and 3 blinks (so 3 bar, correct?). Then tried the green + grey wire connected, and got the pump light to turn on as well, so all 3 lights were lit up. So this is a good sign I'm guessing. Now to figure out this pump issue... My car will be out of paint early next week, and I really need to have it ready before the end of May. Last edited by ShelbyMopar; 04-30-2008 at 02:14 PM. |

The enginerungroup pump a DIY pump not a custom if it is the older one, they use coolingmist stuff and if it's not black it's the old pump which was not a custom pump and probably a 60psi or if your lucky 100psi pump and if it is was one of there older ones it was not 100% methanol compatible and the seals are probably toast on it. We do have all the parts to rebuild the seals on the pump and replace them with the 100% methanol compatible ones and the 150psi pressure switch. Here are the parts to rebuild the head of the pump, But unfortuatly even there new pumps still use a non 100% methanol compatible check valve seal so you can still have problems. I would probably opt for a new pump with a warranty. If you can find one local that will work to but it will cost about $150 to $175 for a 150psi pump. http://www.alcohol-injection.com/wat...rts-3/pump-40/ ![]() ![]() |

It is the black pump, I can take a picture of it if necessary. Is there any other solution as to why it isn't pumping anything at all? I've contacted the guy who sold it to me and am asking for a refund on the pump at least. Bought it off some kid on SRTForums. |

Seal probably failed on it, if he was using 100% methanol, Like I said there reverse flow check valve on that pump is not compatible with 100% methanol and it cold leak past and wreak some havic on the internals. He cold have also done something stupid with it like run xylene or toulene through the pump which basically destroys them. You never know what your getting with a used system. I would be asking for a refund for the pump if I were you. |

Yeah, I have opened a dispute on Paypal, as well as started a thread on SRTForums about the purchase in the parts for sale section. I am very unimpressed right now. Doubtful that my drag car will be ready by the end of the month thanks to this issue. I guess I could run race fuel for the time being, but I was really looking forward to trying out alcohol this year. My budget just didn't allow me to buy an entire new progressive setup, but looks like I got the shaft anyway. =/ |
