Alright, I've had mine in all week, and scans show that I definitely need to make some adjustments to fulfill this thing's potential. With PEM's, 3" d/p, 3.4 pulley, 104 plugs, CAI, and DHP my alcohol is useless. I had hardly any KR (~2* only in 3rd gear) before adding PEM's and alcohol, and PEM's took care of that, so I'm seriously overkilling the Knock protection right now. I will be ready to tune the pcm once our PowerTuner is updated and sent back, so what are people with 3.4's able to do until getting a MPS and dropping to a 3.2 or less? I know adding timing, and tuning the fuel is a given... How about plugs and gaps... I have 104's at .055" from my original basic 3.4/intake/exhaust/dhp setup, so I need to know if gapping those down is the ticket for now, and if I should throw some 103's in and gap them once I drop to a certain pulley? Help with this, and personal setups are encouraged to be discussed... - Dave

For starters, yes get some al103's. I have mine gapped at .035 and this works best for me. Next scan your o2's. I found with my togs and alcohol I was running 990's. so, from 5k up on the MAF I scaled everything down 3% with my iccu, drove for a couple days and decided this was good and made it perminent in the powertuner. Also, 1 thing to look at our your PE vs time fields. You will notice that when spraying alcohol with a 3.0 or smaller your o2's ramp too fast. I had to scale down my pe vs time 5% in the upper time frames because if I was cruising and stomped it. OMG the stutter was bad but, if I feathered it then went to wot it was fine. This led to the pe vs time thing. Sorry for all the non powertuner owners but, if you are serious about tuning and want a smaller pulley then a 3.2 you really need a tuner of some sort. Hope this helps, -Chris |

whats PE vs. time fields, and i noticed my 02's are up quite a bit as well, car seems sluggish, running a tad rich, ill be tuning more tomarow. with a 3.0 whats a decent setting for the pump, i have it set at 110 right now. is that too high?

So, you’re saying if I want to run a 2.8. I can’t. Because I don’t have a programmer? What are PE vs time fields anyways?? Steven

Most GTP's don't need the pump past 100psi. If it feels boggy back the pump off. Unless you have a gauge there is no way of knowing your pump pressure. I have a 100psi gauge and my pump can peg it pretty damm easy. Some of you will find less is better. I over 100psi to support a 2.8 pulley. 3.0 and up don't need near that much. |

PE_RPM_vs_Time is the field he's referring to. It's a fueling folder in the PowrTuner. It modifies your base PE based on RPM_vs_Time. You wouldn't understand if you don't have a PowrTuner. If any of you guys are SERIOUS about maximizing your setup and running awesome times, then get a tuner. Without it, you're just throwing parts on a car and hoping they work together. EVERY CAR NEEDS TUNING. |

snow said it best. Remember ass dynoing is not an exact art. The powertuner is a necessity if you want to take your car to it's potential. You can not even imagine how much power I an get out of a car even with a base dhp tune with a custom one. I can tell you this much, you get as much if not more as a pulley wap :o |
