Hi Guys, Will shortly be installing a base kit on my Miata. As its a Miata it has the battery in the boot/trunk and i am concerned that the wiring supplied may not be up to providing this current over this distance. Does anyone the max current draw of the pump? How did all the other Miatas wire up the pump, from the battery or from another source? Cheers Mark |

Manufacture Surflo states that its capable of 10 amps when we first purchased these pumps. Which btw this pump is really new item for the manufacture and they have not even came up with a tech sheet for it yet. I got a preliminary tech sheet last week and it had the listed as 8 amps. Our own testing when we got the protype pumps have not had it pull more than 7amps, We did the because It could not be pulling 10 amps as stated because our Progressive Controller where not showing enough heat for the load of 10 amps. You should be fine with the wires supplied up to 15ft then you should extend pass that with 14gauge wire. |
