Default 1.8T application

First of all, this is my first post and I just bought the kit through a member of the vwvortex forums. Anyways, I have a stock turbo '01 1.8T GTI, AWD engine code. My question is, can the Progressive Controller be wired up to the stock map sensor? Our map sensors are 2.5 bar from what I've come up with, and the controller only has a 2 bar and 3 bar setting. I know that it doesn't really matter much since the voltages are all the same. But the problem is that I was looking at the install thread of the Audi, and I noticed something about the controller having 3 wires as opposed to the 2 wires used by the stock map sensor. Are there any 1.8Ters using the stock map sensor? I don't really want to change it to a 3 bar because it may throw off my Revo programming. Any info is appreciated.

On the 1.8T we have done local installs on we have just added a map sensor to the kit. The controllers 5v output wire runs the map sensor independent of your cars so it has no effect on your ECM. The VW sensors are pretty much all 2 wire which i cant say i know how that works with 5v in, and output along with a ground.

actually, i installed my kit a few weeks ago and did not run into any problems with my stock map. it had 3 wires as the instructions stated, the only problem was figuring out which one was 5v out.

I have a customer that has inquired about the water/alcohol injection systems and will be installing one as a test on my own 2005 Jetta GLi with an AWP engine code. If I come up with anything strange, I'll let you know. I have a dyno in house and as soon as I have some hard numbers I will try to post before and after.

worst case scenerio you have to buy a seperate MAP to run the controller. Usually around $100 cdn for a GM 3bar new.

On the VW, and Audio 1.8 you will not need the extra map sensor. TUrn out the sensor which they thought was the MAP was actually a IAT sensor. THe sensor for the VW and Audi 1.8 is located down by the intercooler outlet pipe and is a 3 wire. The voltage is slightly off from a GM MAP sensor but it works just fine.
