Im trying to figure out Which route to go here. MAP or MAF I am assuming the progressive kit is MAF, since i have read something about a MAP from a GM or something. Nozzel size is another question. I guess ill just give you some specs and see what info comes of it. It is a 1.8t GTI with an APR stage 3+ turbo kit(GT28rs turbo), it spikes at 24 lbs, roughly285-300 whp. I would definately need the 3bar controller but besides that im 100% content on buying a kit i just need a better grasp. Thanks in advance. |

Our progressive kit has a 0-5 v input. Most cars have map sensors already and they would just tap the green wire into the signal wire of a map sensor. For cars that don't have a map sensor, One will need to be added, and to power it you should use the grey wire on our controller, its a 5v output wire. Map sensors can't be hooked to 12v directly.

M3 nozzle works well for your app. Theres a install on the forum for a 1.8T I did a local install on. He was running the audio turbo with a front mount and 26psi of boost. Car pulled like mad when the alcohol came on.

found some nice information. I have read that stock map sensors on VW's can only read up to 22lbs of boost. Is that true or false? My boost gauge still says 24lbs when it spikes. The question is, if i have the controller set to 24lbs on full, will it really be stopping at 22 without getting the full spray? |

That's info you would have to get from the dealer or data log it out yourself. VW have some very screwy electronics compared to US vehicles. Sounds like you have a 2.5bar map sensor but the thing you need to find out is the voltage scale. You can do this by tapping the output wire for the MAP and connecting it to a volt meter and logging the voltage vs boost then you'll know exactly what the output is. Remember some non domestic MAP sensors read in microvolts which 5v input controllers cannot read the bottle scale. |

The stock MAP is infact 22lbs. Maybe running the controller from 5-22lbs might not be too bad. I "occasionally" get on it hard where 24lbs would be an issue. There is somethign else i have been thinking about. Say i adjust timing a couple degrees, it will be benificial while im in boost with the spray on. But how will it ride when im just cruising around not in boost? Im sure 1-2 degrees wont make it that much different but i dont get into the boost all the time, I.E my commute to work is under a mile each way and i am pretty much cruising along at 40mph. Will it cause issues eventually having the advanced timing if i dont get into boost? |
