alot has to do with what you plan to do with the car. Until you figure that out for all you know you are buying the wrong parts in the end. I have had both, by themselves and together. The FMIC is hassle free but WI has some really great benefits. Running a basic kit I did not get any detonation even with the stock injectors maxed out @ 14psi. It wasnt a reliable setup obviously, so I changed it. With the FMIC alone I would start to deto around 10-12psi. If you have the chance the best benefit in my mind of WI is that when used with a J and S indiviual cylinder knock sensor system the timing can be constantly advanced to the brink of detonation safely by the system taking full advantage of WI to the max safely and if you do start to detonate in a cylinder(s) it can adjust the timing differently to each individual cylinder on the fly. Since most cylinders do not that the exact same compression ( as long as they are within 20psi of each other its considered OK ) this is a great advantage. Now think about this, each cylinder will not get the EXACT perfect amount of methenol as well, even with a direct port kit. There is always going to be a slight margin of error. Even say if the margin is as low as 1-3% on a really nice setup, you are still tuning the timing of all 4 to the deto point of the worst cyl. This device takes advantage of the situation. You could have cylinder 1,2,3 at 5 degrees advances with cyl 4 retarded 2 degrees rather then having the timing set to the most detonation prone cylinders timing of -2 for all 4 cylinders. WI + J&S = |
