It would be hard on them if you soaked it in methanol, this is a fine mist that evaporates pretty quickly, The only thing you'll get is a clean throttle body, and a clean engine. By the time the mix gets to your runners it is pretty much all in vapor form anyways due to the low boiling point of methanol. There has been no evidence to show any additional wear from alcohol injection, its pretty much the opposite. |

so your saying that i can go buy stait methinol from my local drag strip, dump it in my washer tank and run ti thru with out a single problem? because everybody i ask says its a big no no without lubricant, partialy because some pumps arent good for it tho.

You can't do that with off the shelf pumps are pumps are made to run 100% methanol 24/7. Its the seals on the other pumps that will harden over time with 100% methanol on other pumps with seals not compatible with methanol. Always remember Devilsown products can run 100% methanol 100% of the time. So no lube needed, the pumps just can't handle solvents like xylene or toulene. You might want to tell those guys to reasearch a little on pump seals and methanol compatability so they are not spreading mis-information. |

Xylene and toulene are very harsh solvents, They use both for paint thinner and stripper, Xylene for example It is made up of 3 benzene derivatives (not alcohol at all) Push this stuff through a supercharger and your rotors will look like chrome. Not to mention it a big time carcenogien Like gasoline it will destroy the pump, not because the pump cannot push the stuff through but everything that is left in the pump head will cause the seals to swell and leak and they become hard. True race methanol is just that. It's methanol good old CH3 OH totally different from the other two. Race gas gets most of its octane rating from adding additional xylene to it. That also how you can make your own home brew race gas. |

wow, this has been extreemely helpfull, since you answering al my questions leme cleer this up, xlol is terible on everythig but if i add a tad to my gass it makes the octane go up bigtime? but im asuming you cant just dump xlol in your everyday car for octane boost right? its a race gas thing only right?

But with alcohol injection it's not needed besides the stuff a serious cancer causing agent. And you can about 5 more octane points more with alcohol injection so it's not worth it. Since were on this octane boost bought in the stores is nothing but about 3oz to 4oz of xylene and the rest is gas. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. When it says it raises your octane 6 points, that means .6 so 92 octane is now 92.6 octane, what a joke. | |

I have had problems with knock and timing retard issues since day one. Our temperatures here are between 80-90 degrees and fairly high humidity associated with a tropical island. I have between 6 and 10 lbs of boost with heat soaking issues. My initial timing is set at 10 degrees btdc. And I still have to dial in my Jackson Racing Power Card to retard the timing under boost. Since I installed the WI, I have had lots of success eliminating knock. I put the nozzle before the throttle body and before the supercharger. That location raised my boost a couple of pounds. It also eliminated all heat soaking issues that I previously had. Additionally, I was able to set my initial timing back to 14 degrees btdc. I have not had to adjust my JR Power card much to retard timing on boost. I have noticed a significant gain in power throughout the power band. In fact, my power band pulls hard from 1500 rpm up to the redline of 7000 rpm. My O2 sensor and throttle body is exceptionally clean. I did notice a little bit of black soot at the tail pipe though. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a dyno in my area to record horsepower at different rpm levels. I do have a drag strip. And as I get some confirmed numbers, I will post it here. I did test different mixtures of solutions in my WI system. So far, the best that I found to work under my conditions is a 50/50 mixture of Methanol and distilled water. I was going to try a pure solution of methanol. But I was worried about eating seals and bushings. I am going to do more testing by changing some of the timing and air fuel mixtures. I will post my results when they are available.
