Ain't that the truth. I'm lucky in that the place I get 99% meth from, 2 of my former students work there and they walways give me a smile. Last time I was there I was briefly chatting to an old guy who aorked there. I didn't catch everything he was saying, but he was joking around asking if I was going to be making molotov cocktails with them!

I would be interested in pics if you can. My 95/5% seems to have dissappeared, and i would prefer to go higher than 75/25% if possible.

Can someone check this maths for me as something doesn't seem right. I used to be good at maths but I just can't get my head around this one. So in the past I have been using a 95%/5% meth/eth mix, and I have been mixing that with 25% water. So overall I have had: 71.25% Methanol 25% Water 3.75% Ethanol If I am using bottles of methanol/ethanol in a 75%25% mix, how much water should I be adding to make it pretty much equivalent? I did some equations and came up with 73% meth/eth mix and 27% water, but I was expecting it to be higher. Do those figures sound right? |

Thanks for the pics. Been thinking about what you are asking. I don't think that the 20% of ethanol instead of methanol will make a difference in the overall scheme of things. I don't really even think that weight vs volume would make a difference. I think that repetition and conformity are the only things you should worry about. If you tuned for 75% of the 75%M25%E mix and 25% water, then stick with it, or within a few % of it.

Meth .792 Eth .789 Water .998 From wikipedia, therefore, at your ratio and the amounts you are mixing, I don't see there being a problem. a 50/50 water/meth by volume would be 56/44 by weight, but again, if you are using the same stuff, at the same ratios, weight or volume, your tune should be safe. Crunched some numbers, at 1L of 75/25 Meth Eth as compared to 95/5, the weight difference is 0.0006 gm/cm3. So at the 500 ml you are using per bottle, it would be 0.0003.
