well do what ya want.. ive installed a bunch of alcohol kits, on all different kinds of vechiles from turbo buicks to blown Vipers and work at a chasis dyno shop on the weekends.. and running straight meth will yield you more power and less knock/ detnation... ![]() But feel free to try your own thing and post up your results.. If your aim is to avoid detonation. the you need octane.. meaning a higher octane fuel.. in this case methanol. If you need only cooling, then use water or methanol.. or both. If you crank up the water.. you will spit and sputter as it does not BURN. So tuning gets way way way complicated. Last edited by pacemkr86; 06-22-2007 at 02:20 PM. |

I wouldnt run pure methanol in my car because it is a Turbo. Since I am boosting about 17psi, I need the detonation suppression that water provides. I have read that a 50/50 solution is best for turbos and offers an HP boost as well as good detonation suppresion. I guess if my car was NA I would consider pure Meth. Another plus to mixing is that water is a lot cheaper than Meth! |

[quote=Microdax;5984]I wouldnt run pure methanol in my car because it is a Turbo. I have run many, many gallons of blue windshield washer fluid through my system. Never had a bit of problem. I prefer to use VP meth, but while on road trips, or when my supply runs out, I don't hesitate to run "the blue stuff". In fact, I put together an Excel spreadsheet to help calculate meth mixes. It includes a sheet on the "Super Blue" windshield washer fluid. On that sheet, I have a few brands and their meth content, as well as a few brands to avoid since they contain "bad juju" (mostly detergents and/or antifreeze). Here you go: bcblues Methanol Mixing Worksheets |

I guess this why it is worth it to mix your own or buy the Devil's Brew. I have a case of PEAK brand blue washer fluid. The label says washer fluid and de-icer -20F It does not foam when shaken and it doesn't feel soapy or sticky, but there is still no way to know for sure that it's good to burn. I guess I will head to the speed shop for some $5 gallon VP M1 and cut it with distilled water. |

Here is the MSD for the PEAK -20. I based my speadsheet data off the MSDs, so they should be accurate. FYI the PEAK -20 is 33% meth: http://www.peakantifreeze.com/msds/m...h_minus_20.pdf |

The Motomaster stuff must be Canadian as I don't think we can get it here in the states but if it's blue and -40 like you said then that's got more than 50% Methanol in it and would be a killer mix. Pitt Penn here in the states has the most Meth in a window washer fluid I've seen, it's pretty much 50/50 Meth/Water. Pretty much that other stuff in like putting antifreeze in your alcohol system, hell no even in small amounts. And pure Meth has many logs showing it cools the intake charge more than water. The great thing about pure Meth is you can run a larger nozzle and that's where it owns water, more volume hitting the charge and totally evaporating while adding a richness to the engine. |
